What a course actually is
A full year, sequenced. Grade 9 biology runs 11 units and 98 skills, from molecules and enzymes up through cells, energy, genetics, evolution and ecology to the human body, ending with a capstone where your child picks a real biological case and defends an argument about it out loud. Units build on each other, so the order is the curriculum rather than a table of contents.

Clara sits inside every lesson. She introduces the idea, asks the questions, and when an answer is wrong she explains the specific mistake in it. A child who answers 126 to 304 minus 178 is told which column went wrong and walked through that column, not marked incorrect and moved along. From the parent side you can open any lesson and read the whole conversation in the order it happened.
Christian, old earth, and checkable
A Bible course runs every year, kindergarten through twelfth grade, from the King James text. Where Christians genuinely differ, baptism, communion, end times, church government, the material names the positions rather than picking one for your family. Science is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards and taught exactly as scientists teach it, including an old earth and shared ancestry. Many faithful Christians read Genesis 1 as telling who made the world and why, not as a scientific report of how, and that is the position this curriculum has taken. You can verify all of that by reading the courses rather than believing this paragraph.
Nothing is timed, and units are not weeks
No countdowns, no speed scores, no streaks. Practice is scored on whether the skill is learned. Lessons are grouped into units rather than labelled with week numbers, so there is no schedule to fall behind and a child who needs eleven days on one idea has not failed anything.

Letters & Devotion carries a Bible course every year, and science is taught to the Next Generation Science Standards exactly as scientists teach it, including deep time, evolution and shared ancestry. Many faithful Christians read Genesis 1 as telling who made the world and why, not as a scientific report of how, and this curriculum has taken that position on purpose.
