Start 30 days freeYes, there is a homeschool Bible curriculum that uses the King James Version in every grade: Letters & Devotion has thirteen Bible courses, one for each year from kindergarten through twelfth grade, each a full year of 36 lessons. The elementary years read the Bible through in order, middle school teaches how to read it well, and high school covers doctrine, church history, worldview and ethics. Every course is published in full on the site, so you can read the whole year before you decide anything.
What each year covers
Kindergarten reads Genesis. First grade follows Exodus and Joshua, second grade Judges, the kings and the prophets, and third grade surveys the whole Old Testament. Fourth grade is the Gospels and Acts, fifth the letters, the wisdom books and the whole story at once. Sixth grade learns how to read the Bible and the life of Christ, seventh reads Acts to Revelation and the early church, and eighth reads the Old Testament through the New. In high school: Bible survey and Christian doctrine in ninth, church history in tenth, worldview and apologetics in eleventh, and Christian ethics and vocation in twelfth.
King James throughout, read aloud even where it sounds old
Every passage is the King James Version, in every grade. The early lessons ask you to read it aloud slowly, the old words included, because a young child does not need to understand every word to know it is the real thing. Memory verses are King James too.
What a lesson looks like
A lesson starts at the table with you, not on a screen: read the passage together, have your child tell it back in their own words, learn a short verse, talk through a few questions, and do one small activity. Each lesson spells out exactly what to read and what to ask, so a parent with no teaching background can lead it. Afterwards your child tells Clara, the teacher built into every lesson, how it went.
Nondenominational where Christians differ
Where sincere Christians land in different places, on baptism, communion, the end times, church government, predestination or spiritual gifts, the courses name the positions rather than choosing one for your family. Where Scripture is read the same way across traditions, it is taught as settled.
Part of a whole curriculum, or on its own
The Bible courses sit inside a complete K-12 curriculum of 84 courses, and one family price covers every course and every child. If you only want a printed Bible year, the first unit of the Grade 1, Grade 6 and Grade 9 courses is a free printable PDF, with no email and no account.
What this is not
- It is not a choice of translations. Every course uses the King James Version only.
- It does not pick a denomination. If your church holds a specific view on baptism, communion or the end times, you will teach that part yourself; the course names the options.
- The science courses in the same curriculum teach six-day creation as their own position. Whether evolution is also taught, alongside creation, is your choice at signup.
- It is not a devotional to read alone. Each lesson expects a parent at the table for the reading and the conversation.
