Start 30 days freeYes. Economics: Scarcity, Markets, and Decisions is a one-semester grade 12 course of four units and 31+ hours. It builds one way of thinking, that everything has a real cost, and that cost is what you gave up, not what you paid.
The four units
Scarcity, Choice, and Opportunity Cost. Markets: Supply, Demand, and the Price System. The Macroeconomy: Growth, Unemployment, Inflation, and Policy. Trade, Globalization, and Development.
Three zoom levels
The same thinking is applied three times, to personal decisions, to markets, and then to whole countries and the global economy.
Facts and opinions
A student should be able to read a news story about jobs, prices or trade and tell which parts are facts you could check and which are opinions dressed up as facts.
What it cares about most
Separating what is true from what is fair, more than any formula.
What this is not
- It is one course among many. You decide which to take, which to hold back and how many to do in a day.
- It is a semester, not a full year, so plan it alongside other courses.
- It cannot promise any college will accept a homeschool transcript. It prints one of what was taught and mastered, and your family issues it.
