At signup, Letters & Devotion has the parent choose how much sex education a child receives: none, body changes and puberty only, or puberty plus marriage, purity and abstinence. The choice is the family's, not the publisher's, and the Health courses are published in full so you can read them first.
The three choices
None. Body changes and puberty only. Or puberty plus marriage, purity and abstinence. You pick one at signup, alongside the other family choice: whether evolution is taught beside creation as what mainstream science says, or never shown.
The Health courses that exist
Three courses are listed in the catalog. Health for Grades 3-5 has 5 units. Health for Middle School is a seventh grade course of 6 units. Health Literacy and Personal Well-Being is a ninth grade course of 7 units.
How to read them before choosing
Every course is readable in full with no account and no card, including all three Health courses: every unit, skill and learning objective. Reading them is the way to see what each setting would and would not put in front of your child.
A Christian curriculum that leaves this to you
The curriculum also teaches six-day creation and has a King James Bible course in every grade. On sex education it does not decide for the family, whether that family wants none of it, a modest account of puberty, or the Bible's teaching on marriage and purity added.
What this is not
- It does not replace your own conversations. A curriculum setting is not a talk with your child, and these topics belong with you.
- It has only three Health courses. The catalog lists none for kindergarten through grade 2, or for grades 10 to 12.
- Read the Health courses yourself before you decide. This page cannot tell you what is in them, and choosing "none" or the fullest setting without reading is guessing.
