The eight units
Land Empires and Exchange Networks, 1200-1450. Encounter and Exchange: The Atlantic World, 1450-1750. Revolutions and the Language of Rights, 1750-1850. Industrialization and Its Discontents. Empire and Its Costs, 1850-1914. Total War and Its Ideologies, 1914-1945. Cold War and Decolonization, 1945-1991. A Connected World, 1991 to the Present.
Documents, not memorizing
A student reads real letters, laws, propaganda posters and speeches and argues from them.
Patterns as a tool
The aim is to look at a historical situation they have never seen and say which of the course's recurring patterns explains it, and where the explanation runs out of road.
Earlier and later
The Ancient World is grade 6, World Geography and the Medieval World is grade 7, and World Geography is grade 9.
What this is not
- It is one course among many. You decide which to take, which to hold back and how many to do in a day.
- It cannot promise any college will accept a homeschool transcript. It prints one of what was taught and mastered, and your family issues it.
- It starts at 1200, so the ancient and medieval periods are in the grade 6 and 7 courses.
