It is four nine-week units and 45+ hours, read from the King James.
The four units
Moses. Out and Free. The Long Way. Into the Land. Each is nine weeks, and each week is one story.
Moses before the road
The year opens with nine weeks on Moses, including the baby in the basket, the bush on fire and his excuses, because a journey needs a person before it can have a road. The guide says the course includes his temper and the man he killed, so a child knows he was not chosen for being impressive.
A map on the wall
From week 11 your child adds one small drawing to a paper map of the journey that runs along a wall or hallway. It is how a six-year-old sees where they are on a road that has a forty-year gap in the middle.
A week in the course
You read the passage aloud from the King James, tell it back in the plain words given, learn one short verse, ask three questions and do one small thing. It is about twenty minutes, three times a week, and there is nothing to mark.
The hard weeks, flagged ahead
Four weeks are hard: the night the oldest sons of Egypt died, the army that drowned, the death of Moses, and what happened inside Jericho. Each has a parent note at the foot of the week on how to carry it at six, and the guide asks you not to meet them cold.
What this is not
- It is not a quiz course. The retelling and the map are the whole assessment, and there is nothing to mark.
- It is not a modern paraphrase. The King James text is read aloud, and the plain-words lines are yours to say, not scripture.
- It is not a whole-Bible survey. This year follows Exodus and Joshua, and the other grades take up other parts.

Questions parents ask
Does my child have to read the King James?
No. You read the passage aloud and then tell it back in the plain words the course gives you. The guide notes that children take in far more than they can explain back.
What do I need to gather?
A Bible, and a long strip of paper plus a stretch of wall for the map before week 11. The activities use things already in the house, such as play dough, foil, a flashlight and twelve stones from outside.
What comes after Joshua?
Bible: Kings, Prophets and a Promise is the grade 2 course, from judges to the exile and a promise.
What does it cost?
$29 a month or $290 a year for every child. The first 30 days are free with no card.
