Most curricula are built around a calendar. Week 1, Week 2, Week 30, and a child who needs four days on a concept spends the rest of the year behind a schedule that was never about them. For a lot of autistic and ADHD kids that is the whole problem, and it has very little to do with whether they can learn the material.

No schedule to keep up with

Lessons are units rather than weeks, so there is no schedule to fall behind. Work is self-paced and a skill can be revisited as many times as it takes, so a child who needs to reread the question four times can take that time.

Units and lessons, not weeks

Lessons used to be labelled "Week 3", and in September 2026 a parent wrote to tell us her autistic son read that as a deadline he was failing every single day. She was right, and the label was ours, not his. We renamed every lesson in every course to units and lessons. A unit is a body of work, not a date, and finishing one on day 40 is finishing it.

Wrong answers get a reason, not a red X

Clara, the teacher built into every lesson, reads the actual mistake and explains it. A child who answers 136 to 304 minus 178 is told which column went wrong and walked through that column, not told to try again. For a kid who has learned that being wrong means being finished, the difference between an explanation and a buzzer is the whole difference.

Learning Supports: you tick what helps

From the parent side you pick what helps your child from six starting points: Reading support, Focus support, Predictable routine, Math support, Writing support and Low-pressure mode. Each is a bundle of single switches, and you can turn any one on or off on its own. You pick supports, not a condition, and nothing stores a diagnosis. Your child never sees a condition name.

For attention: Focus support

Practice comes in 10 or 15 minute pieces with a progress bar, only the current question is on screen, and a short movement break comes every 10, 15 or 20 minutes, whichever you choose.

For routine and sensory load: Predictable routine

The same practice layout every lesson, a heads-up before each change of activity, a calm look with muted colours and no sound effects or animation, and plain wording with no idioms where a rewrite exists. Clara still reads aloud in the calm look.

For reading, writing and pressure

Reading support reads everything aloud and lights each word as it goes, with a clearer font (Lexend or Atkinson Hyperlegible), extra spacing and an optional colour tint. Writing support lets a child answer out loud or by tapping, counts ideas over spelling and offers sentence starters. Low-pressure mode hides scores, keeps feedback short and calm, and gives a free second try.

You can read every word before you buy

All 84 courses are readable in full with no account and no card. Every unit, every skill, every objective, in the order they are taught. If you have already paid for three curricula that turned out to be wrong for your child, you should not have to pay for a fourth to find out. Read the reading level, the workload and the sequence, then decide.

You can read what the teacher actually said

From the parent side you can open any lesson and read the whole conversation between Clara and your child, in the order it was said. Not a summary and not a score. If you are not sitting beside them, you can still see exactly how a machine spoke to your child. Conversations are kept for 30 days and then deleted.

What this is not

This is not a special education program. There is no IEP, no ABA, no occupational or speech therapy, and nothing here replaces any of them.
It is not designed for autism or ADHD specifically. It is a general K-12 curriculum whose pacing and feedback happen to suit a lot of neurodivergent kids, which is a smaller and more honest claim.
The course is built around reading. Read-aloud and answering by tapping or speaking help a lot, but a child who is pre-reading will still need you beside them, and for some children that makes it the wrong tool right now.
Supports change how lessons look and feel, not what is taught. Some need a one-time setup, such as the microphone switch for answering out loud. There is no motor accommodation beyond tapping and speaking an answer.

Before your child starts: what we collect and why

We collect only what it takes to teach your child: the first name and sign-in you choose, their answers and progress, and their chat with Clara (written by Anthropic's AI, read aloud by OpenAI). Nobody trains AI on it or sells it, and you can see or delete it any time. You create your child's account yourself. Ticking the box below is how you, as the parent, give consent.

Read what we collect and why

Your consent is needed before we collect anything from your child, and we collect nothing without it. You create your child's account yourself; they never sign up alone.

What we collect from your child: the first name and sign-in you choose, their answers, time on lessons and progress, and their chat with Clara. Used to run the lessons, build their transcript and show you how they are doing.
Who else handles it: Anthropic writes Clara's replies from the chat, the lesson and your child's first name. OpenAI turns lesson text and Clara's replies into the read-aloud voice. Spoken answers are turned into text on our own server and never sent anywhere. Our email provider sends you reports. Nobody sells your child's data or uses it for anything else.
Your rights: see everything collected from your child, have it deleted, or stop further collection at any time, from your account or by emailing our support address. If you refuse the sharing above, Clara cannot teach, so the service cannot run. Chats are deleted after 30 days.
Safety: if your child writes something suggesting they may be hurt or in danger, we email you and the owner of Letters & Devotion the same day.

Is Letters & Devotion suitable for an autistic child?

It depends on the child, and the fastest way to find out is to read the courses, which are open in full with no account and no card. What it offers is self-paced work, no weekly deadlines, and a teacher that explains a wrong answer instead of marking it. What it is not is a special education program or a substitute for therapy or an IEP.

What supports can I turn on?
