Homeschooling a child with autism or ADHD
Most curricula are built around a calendar. Week 1, Week 2, Week 30, and a child who needs four days on a concept spends the rest of the year behind a schedule that was never about them. For a lot of autistic and ADHD kids that is the whole problem, and it has very little to do with whether they can learn the material.
Nothing on the clock, anywhere
No timers, no countdowns, no speed scores, no streaks to protect. A question waits as long as it waits. Practice is scored on whether the skill is learned, not on how fast it happened, so a child who needs to reread the question four times loses nothing by doing it.
Units and lessons, not weeks
Lessons used to be labelled "Week 3", and in September 2026 a parent wrote to tell us her autistic son read that as a deadline he was failing every single day. She was right, and the label was ours, not his. We renamed all 3,402 lessons across 135 courses to units and lessons. A unit is a body of work, not a date, and finishing one on day 40 is finishing it.
Wrong answers get a reason, not a red X
Clara, the teacher built into every lesson, reads the actual mistake and explains it. A child who answers 126 to 304 minus 178 is told which column went wrong and walked through that column, not told to try again. For a kid who has learned that being wrong means being finished, the difference between an explanation and a buzzer is the whole difference.

From the parent side you can open any lesson and read the whole conversation between Clara and your child, in the order it was said. Not a summary and not a score. If you are not sitting beside them, you can still see exactly how a machine spoke to your child. Conversations are kept for 30 days and then deleted.

What this is not
- This is not a special education program. There is no IEP, no ABA, no occupational or speech therapy, and nothing here replaces any of them.
- It is not designed for autism or ADHD specifically. It is a general K-12 curriculum whose pacing and feedback happen to suit a lot of neurodivergent kids, which is a smaller and more honest claim.
- Lessons are read and typed. A child who is pre-reading, or who cannot yet type a short answer, will need you beside them, and for some children that makes it the wrong tool right now.
- There is no sensory or motor accommodation beyond an uncluttered page and no time pressure. No audio narration of every lesson yet.

Questions parents ask
Is Letters & Devotion suitable for an autistic child?
It depends on the child, and the fastest way to find out is to read the courses, which are open in full with no account and no card. What it offers is untimed self-paced work, no weekly deadlines, and a teacher that explains a wrong answer instead of marking it. What it is not is a special education program or a substitute for therapy or an IEP.
Is anything timed or scored on speed?
No. There are no timers, countdowns, speed scores or streaks anywhere in the product. Practice is scored on mastery of the skill only.
What happens if my child takes a month on one unit?
Nothing. Units are bodies of work rather than dates, and there is no schedule to fall behind. Lessons were renamed from weeks to units in September 2026 for exactly this reason.
Can I see what the AI teacher says to my child?
Yes. From the parent side you can open any lesson and read the full conversation, in the order it was said, with no summarising in between. Conversations are kept for 30 days and then deleted.
How much is it for more than one child?
