Start 30 days freeYes. The whole curriculum, Bible included, is also free for 30 days with no card.
The six free units
Kindergarten is In the Beginning, Genesis from creation to the flood; Grade 1 is Moses; Grade 2 is When Judges Ruled; Grade 3 is The Law, from creation to Sinai; Grade 4 is Who Jesus Is; and Grade 5 is Letters to Churches. Each is a 30-page PDF of eight lessons.
The courses they come from
The six courses are Bible: In the Beginning, a Kindergarten Year in Genesis; Bible: Out of Egypt, a First Grade Year in Exodus and Joshua; Bible: Kings, Prophets and a Promise, a Second Grade Year; Bible: The Old Testament, a Third Grade Survey; Bible: The Gospels and Acts, a Fourth Grade Year; and Bible: Letters, Wisdom and the Whole Story, a Fifth Grade Year. Each has 4 units and 36 lessons.
How the work changes as the child grows
In kindergarten you read a short passage aloud, your child tells it back in ordinary words, and you learn a verse and do one small thing. By second grade each lesson adds three questions. In third grade your child starts reading some of it aloud, and a paper timeline grows on the wall all year. In fourth grade your child reads part of each passage, tells it back and writes a few sentences of it.
Unit 2, and the rest of the curriculum
Each unit page lets you ask for Unit 2, which is free and arrives by email a week later. Beyond the printables, every course in the curriculum is readable in full with no account, and a complete sample lesson is at /sample.
What this is not
- It is not a free full year. The free printables cover the first unit of each course, and the whole year of 36 lessons needs the online curriculum, which is free for 30 days and then $29 a month or $290 a year for every child in the family.
- It is King James only. Young children are read the old wording aloud and tell it back in their own words; there is no modern-translation edition.
- It is not a program a child does alone. Many early Bible lessons start at the table with a parent.
