Start 30 days freeYes, there is a Christian homeschool curriculum for middle school: Letters & Devotion lists 22 courses for grades 6 to 8, with a King James Bible course each year, math, science, English and social studies for every grade, and Spanish, Health, music, art, PE, practical arts and research literacy alongside them.
The core, grade by grade
Grade 6: Bible: How to Read the Bible, and the Life of Christ; Ratios, Relationships, and the Number System; Earth and Space Systems (9 units); Reading, Reasoning, and Writing; and The Ancient World: Peoples, Power, and Place. Grade 7: Bible: Acts to Revelation; Mathematics 7; Life Science (9 units); Reading Arguments, Writing Positions; and World Geography and the Medieval World, 500-1500 CE. Grade 8: Bible: The Old Testament Read Through the New; Pre-Algebra: Foundations for Algebra I; Physical Science (8 units); Structure, Irony, and Argument; and United States History to Reconstruction, with Civics. Apart from the Bible courses (4 units) and the 9-unit science courses in grades 6 and 7, each is 8 units.
Beyond the core
Empecemos, Spanish for Middle School (4 units) and Home Base: Practical Arts and Life Skills (3 units) are for grades 6-8, and so is Physical Education (4 units), which is off screen with a weekly plan. Listed at grade 7 are Finding, Judging, and Using Information: Research Literacy for the Web Era (3 units), Health for Middle School (6 units), Listening Across Cultures: An Introduction to Music Appreciation (4 units) and Seeing and Making: An Introduction to Visual Art (4 units).
Two choices a family makes at signup
The grade 6 and grade 7 science courses carry the Creation units, which teach six-day creation and a young earth. At signup you choose whether evolution is taught alongside creation, as what mainstream science says (Life Science 7 is where it appears), or never shown, and whether sex education is none, puberty only, or puberty plus marriage, purity and abstinence.
Standards, pace and records
Math and English follow the Common Core State Standards and science follows NGSS. Every module is mastery paced, so proving a skill early unlocks the next one the same day, and a child can be at a different level in different subjects. Hours log per course and the transcript works out grades from mastery.
What this is not
- Music, art and Health are each a single course listed at grade 7 (Health for Middle School, Listening Across Cultures, Seeing and Making), not a separate course for each of grades 6, 7 and 8. Read the units to see how they fit a sixth or eighth grader.
- Spanish is the only world language here, and Home Base and Research Literacy are short courses of 3 units each. There is no separate middle school computer science course; that appears in grade 10.
- Clara is an artificial intelligence, not a human tutor, and lessons run roughly 30 to 50 minutes per subject on screen. It is not accredited and does not issue a diploma.
