BJU Press is the Christian curriculum publisher associated with Bob Jones University, covering preschool (K4) through grade 12 in Bible, math, science, heritage studies, language arts and electives such as Spanish. Families choose between printed textbook kits with teacher's editions that the parent teaches from directly, and streamed or DVD video courses taught by a real teacher on camera, scheduled and graded through its Homeschool Hub planner. It has been publishing school and homeschool curriculum for decades and has a reputation, generally earned, for being more academically demanding and more careful in its literature and history courses than the category average.
The pricing difference that actually decides it
BJU Press sells a separate kit per child per grade level as a one-time purchase, not a subscription, with an interest-free payment plan available on orders of $350 or more. Checked on bjupresshomeschool.com, a grade kit bundles the core subjects with a year of video lessons and printed textbooks, and Bible curriculum is a separate purchase on top. Every grade and every format prices differently, so check the grade and format you actually want on their own kit page before comparing it to a monthly number.
Letters & Devotion is $29 a month for every child in the household, month to month, with no per-child seats and no course limits. That is $348 a year whether you have one child or four, or $290 a year on the annual plan. The first 30 days are free, a card is taken and nothing is charged until day 30, and cancelling before then costs nothing.

- Your family holds to a recent, literal creation, including a global Flood, and wants that taught as settled fact in science class as well as Bible class. BJU Press's own elementary science materials teach from that starting point throughout. Table & Testament does not, and if that is what you want for your child, this is the more important difference on this page and BJU Press is the right choice.
- You want a real teacher delivering the lesson on video, or a printed textbook and teacher's edition in hand, from a publisher that has been doing this for decades and is affiliated with a university. Letters & Devotion has no lecture video at all and teaches through written conversation with an AI tutor instead, and it launched recently, which should count against us if a long track record matters to you.
- You want a curriculum with a reputation for being more academically demanding, and more nuanced in its literature and history courses, than the typical online homeschool program. That reputation is earned and long-standing; ours has not had the years to earn the same one yet.
- You want scheduling and reporting built in for a whole curriculum out of the box. Why there is no price for BJU Press on this page
We checked in September 2026 and the sources contradicted each other, including the companies' own pages against the review sites. Publishing a competitor's price that turns out to be wrong is unfair to them and useless to you, and any figure here would be out of date within a month anyway.
