A comparison written by one of the two
Letters & Devotion vs Monarch (Alpha Omega Publications)
We make one of these, so read this the way you would read any comparison written by a seller. What we can do is be specific about our own product, accurate about the shape of theirs, and honest about where they are the better answer. Their current price is on their site, not on this page, and the reason is at the bottom.
What Monarch (Alpha Omega Publications) is
Monarch is the online curriculum from Alpha Omega Publications, the publisher of the LIFEPAC and Horizons print curricula that a great many Christian homeschools have used for decades. It covers grades 3 through 12 in Bible, history and geography, language arts, math, science and a long list of electives, with lessons, quizzes and tests graded automatically and a parent dashboard for assigning and reporting. Alpha Omega also runs Ignite Christian Academy, an accredited online school that is a separate product from the curriculum. Its science is taught from a biblical creation position.
The pricing difference that actually decides it
Monarch is priced per student. Their catalog sells it two ways: one course at a time, bought per year, or a Full Access subscription per student that opens every subject, also priced by the year, with a free trial to start. The household total is that per-student figure times the children enrolled, and it starts at third grade, so younger children need something else. Read the current figures on aop.com rather than on any review site, including this one.
Letters & Devotion is $29 a month for every child in the household, month to month, with no per-child seats and no course limits. That is $348 a year whether you have one child or four, or $290 a year on the annual plan. The first 30 days are free with no card, and when they end, lessons pause unless you choose to subscribe.
The comparison to run is the same either way: monthly price, times the number of children, times twelve.

- You want science written from a recent-creation position by a publisher that has done it for decades. Monarch's science courses are. Letters & Devotion holds the same position in Creation units new in October 2026, so the track record is theirs.
- You want a publisher with a long record in Christian homeschooling and print sisters you may already own. Alpha Omega has been at this for decades, and a family moving from LIFEPAC or Horizons will find the same scope. Letters & Devotion launched recently, and that should count against us if a track record matters to you.
- You need an elective we do not have. Their elective list is long and covers subjects outside our 84 courses.
- You want the option of an accredited enrolment from the same publisher. Alpha Omega runs Ignite Christian Academy; Letters & Devotion is a curriculum and issues no diploma.
Where Letters & Devotion is different
Kindergarten through twelfth, not third through twelfth
Letters & Devotion starts at kindergarten with systematic phonics and a Bible year in Genesis, so a family with a five-year-old and a fourteen-year-old is on one product. Monarch begins at third grade.
A teacher that answers the mistake, not a grader
Clara reads the actual wrong answer and explains what went wrong in it, in conversation, before the child moves on. Auto-grading marks the answer right or wrong; the explanation is the parent's job. Every conversation is readable from the parent side afterward.
Creation taught, and the choice left with you
Monarch teaches a recent creation and presents nothing else. Letters & Devotion teaches six-day creation alongside a King James Bible course every year, and lets each family choose at signup whether evolution is taught alongside it as what mainstream science says, and how far sex education goes.
One price for the household
$29 a month covers every child in the family across all 84 courses, and all of them are readable in full before you pay, with no account and no card.

Questions parents ask
Does Monarch teach the same view of origins as Letters & Devotion?
Yes on creation. Monarch's science is written from a biblical creation position and so are Letters & Devotion's Creation units. Both teach a recent, literal creation. The difference is the choice: Letters & Devotion lets each family decide at signup whether evolution is taught alongside creation as what mainstream science says, and how far sex education goes, and a lesson you turn off is never shown.
Which covers the early grades?
Letters & Devotion runs from kindergarten. Monarch starts at third grade, and Alpha Omega offers print curricula for the younger years.
Is Letters & Devotion cheaper?
For one child taking every subject, compare their Full Access price for a year to $348. For several children the gap opens, because Letters & Devotion is one price for the household and Monarch is priced per student. Their current figures are on aop.com.

Why there is no price for Monarch (Alpha Omega Publications) on this page
We checked in September 2026 and the sources contradicted each other, including the companies' own pages against the review sites. Publishing a competitor's price that turns out to be wrong is unfair to them and useless to you, and any figure here would be out of date within a month anyway. Ours is above, because it is ours and we can stand behind it. Theirs is one click away, on their site, where it is current.
