Start 30 days freeLetters & Devotion teaches Algebra II as Functions, Structure, and Modeling: a grade 11 course of eight units and 56+ hours that takes graphing parabolas from Algebra I and widens it into six more families of functions. It follows the Common Core State Standards.
The eight units
Quadratic Functions Revisited and Complex Numbers. Polynomial Functions. Rational Expressions and Functions. Radical Functions, Rational Exponents, and Inverse Functions. Exponential and Logarithmic Functions. Trigonometric Functions. Sequences and Series. Statistics: Modeling and Trusting Data.
One question, asked all year
Given an equation, what does the graph look like, and given a graph or a real situation, what is the equation? A child practices moving between an equation, a graph, a table and a word problem for each family.
Recognizing the model
By the end a student should look at data or a situation and say that is exponential, not linear.
Where it leads
Precalculus in grade 12 takes the same functions further, and Statistics and Data Science is the non-calculus senior option.
What this is not
- It is one course among many. You decide which to take, which to hold back and how many to do in a day.
- It cannot promise any college will accept a homeschool transcript. It prints one of what was taught and mastered, and your family issues it.
- It has no course labeled AP or honors.

Questions parents ask
What comes after Algebra II?
Precalculus, or Statistics and Data Science, are the grade 12 math courses in the catalog.
Does it count toward a high school transcript?
Hours log themselves and a transcript of what was taught and mastered prints in one click. There is also a free transcript maker at /homeschool-transcript that needs no account.
What does it cost?
$29 a month or $290 a year for every child. The first 30 days are free with no card.
