English language arts
Eight units: Tracing and Testing an Argument, Comparing Points of View, a Novel Study, Myths and Archetypes, Poetry and Inference, Drama, Evaluating Sources, and a Research Argument with a position, evidence and counterclaim. It follows the Common Core State Standards.
Mathematics
Eight units: Proportional Relationships, Operations with Rational Numbers, Expressions and Multi-Step Equations, Scale Drawings, Angle Relationships and Area, Circles, Surface Area and Volume, Introduction to Probability, and Sampling and Statistical Inference.
Life science, and where the family chooses
Nine units, from cells and body systems through photosynthesis, ecosystems, heredity, Created Kinds and Natural Selection and Adaptation. At signup you pick "Creation" or "Creation, with evolution taught alongside". With the first, the evolution and deep-time lessons are never shown to your child.
History, research, health, art and music
World Geography and the Medieval World runs from Byzantium and the Islamic world through West Africa, China, Japan and Mesoamerica to the Renaissance. Finding, Judging, and Using Information teaches research literacy for the web era. Health for Middle School, Seeing and Making and Listening Across Cultures are separate courses.
What this is not
- It is a lot of courses. Seventh grade has about a dozen, and you decide which to take, which to hold back and how many to do in a day.
- It is a screen-based curriculum apart from PE and the table portion of the Bible lesson.
- A student who is behind is not stuck. The course slows down, and you can set courses to a lower grade.
